Tracing trigger-based template entities

Having just created a new trigger-based template sensor, I missed having the possibility to trace it as part of debugging.

Yeah, I get it, for "normal" template sensors/entities, this isn't easily achieved, but for trigger-based templates, I believe it should be possible to create trace possibilities?

Why the uncertainty?

Not sure if this belongs with Automations or Templates - it's sort of in-between?
