Describe the feature

It would be great to have the ability to more deeply edit widgets in the application, for example, the ability to remove controls if the entity does not support them, or add a "placeholder" image, since when the entity is not active, the widget simply turns into a gray rectangle. It would be great if you added more customization options.

Use cases

I have Sony network integration, it provides an entity in the form of a media player that shows the currently running game. It would be very nice to add a media player widget to the desktop of an Android device with this entity, but when nothing is playing, it's just an ugly gray rectangle on the desktop.
