Describe your request

I 3D printed a push button box with esp32 and ESP Home. It works with light switches and bulbs. Currently trying (2) methods of control. Toggle on/off in esp home code and trigger an automation. I want to add long press to dim and brighten. Their are a number of posts where others have achieved this. However they are beyond my current coding ability with HA. It would be nice to add some easy to use long press dimming option to automations. Variables options -- how fast to dim and brighten, range (30% - 100%).

Why the uncertainty?

I saw others implementing this in ESP Home, automations, node-red. I don't know the best place, but would probably prefer automations

Use cases

Living room watching TV. Open floor plan and glare on screen requires adjusting lights. Google home does this, but the TV answers and stops the show.

What areas might this affect?

There are a number of commercial remote buttons available, but they are tied to a company and not many buttons. So, there is a demand.
