These packages all have nothing to do with IRAF, and as they are security updates they most probably don't change anything here. I am rather sure that the problem is elsewhere, like a file system inconsistency or defective hardware. Ubuntu 20.04 is also rather outdated now, I would really recommend to update to the latest 24.04. |

I am running IRAF on Ubuntu 20.04.
After an update of packages earlier this year, the content of the DARKCOR FITS header added by the ccdproc command contains now unreadable characters instead of the usual "Dark count correction image is ...".
It is unclear if it has other impact too.
The updated packages are related to ffmpeg (see the list below).
Uninstalling ffmpeg did not solve the issue. Any suggestions what might cause the issue how to fix this without having to upgrade or reinstall, if possible at all?
libavutil56:amd64 7:4.2.7-0ubuntu0.1+esm7
libpostproc55:amd64 7:4.2.7-0ubuntu0.1+esm7
libswscale5:amd64 7:4.2.7-0ubuntu0.1+esm7
libswresample3:amd64 7:4.2.7-0ubuntu0.1+esm7
libavresample4:amd64 7:4.2.7-0ubuntu0.1+esm7
libavcodec58:amd64 7:4.2.7-0ubuntu0.1+esm7
libavformat58:amd64 7:4.2.7-0ubuntu0.1+esm7
libavfilter7:amd64 7:4.2.7-0ubuntu0.1+esm7
libavdevice58:amd64 7:4.2.7-0ubuntu0.1+esm7
ffmpeg:amd64 7:4.2.7-0ubuntu0.1+esm7
man-db:amd64 2.9.1-1
libc-bin:amd64 2.31-0ubuntu9.16
Thanks,
Eric
