another question about IRAF installation

I recently installed the latest version of IRAF for apple silicon. When spawning an xgterm window for IRAF, the value of TERM is "xterm", and the resulting graphics window for IRAF is black and white and is erratic. I am assuming that TERM needs to be set to xgterm. How do I do that?

That is unfortunately a bug in the current distribution. You could do an

export TERM=xgterm

before starting irafcl, or

ecl> stty xgterm

after.
