A feature request: Type immediately into chat when Chat window is in focus

While jamming, especially on an instruments that keeps both your hands busy, or physically far enough from the computer keyboard, typing a message is a little more inconvenient than it should be. In particular, even if I bring the Chat window into focus by clicking anywhere on it, what I type doesn't necessarily end up in the chat - unless I click exactly on the input field. It's often useful to be able to type "Bb minor" or "OK but a bit slower please" without having to wrestle the mouse with all that precision.

My suggestion is that when the Chat window is in focus, any typing should go directly to the chat input field.

But if I want to copy text from the text box, that makes it harder. Clicking on the text box needs to focus that, so I can navigate to the text I want to copy.

It could put focus on the input as a default as soon as the chat is brought forward, then clicking elsewhere inside the Chat window would of course allow other text selection

Oh, if you mean "When I the chat window first opens", then yes, that could be the default field. Of course, if you cut-n-paste something and someone sends a chat message, your focus would remain in the text box not the input field.

I mean when it's first clicked/put into focus. Following clicks could bring other window elements (such as past chat messages for copy/paste) to the front. Juggling with an instrument in my hands, a musical keyboard on the side, and the monitor/mouse on the far right (only one hand precariously available) makes typing things like "which key?" take longer than it should and can potentially compromise a good start for the piece. Besides. the behavior could be optional as to not disrupt ingrained habits.

Yes, but that would be once per time you have Jamulus running, right? I don't think you mean that.
