aioble peripheral connection attempt returning OSError -530 (BLE_HS_EROLE)?

I am trying to write a simple aioble program (on an ESP32-S3) that sends some touch sensor data via a characteristic.
However, I get an OSError: -530 when I try to run it:

Looking at the source code, this would appear to be BLE_HS_EROLE from ble_gap_encryption_initiate():

Are you only seeing this error after a soft-reset, or does it also occur after a power cycle?

Could you also please share the content of the attributes imported from uuids ?

What version micropython are you running? Is it an official downloaded build or one locally compiled?

I see this both after a power cycle and after a soft-reset.

Here's uuids.py:

Is it possible for you to try running generic s3 micropython firmware from the official download page? It would be good to check if it works there or not.

Sure, can do.
By "generic" do you mean not the UM_TINYS3 version?

OK, used this version:

MicroPython v1.22.0-preview.81.ga614c1d50 on 2023-10-31; Generic ESP32S3 module with Octal-SPIRAM with ESP32S3

with the same results.

I also tried using aioble Python sources from a fresh micropython-lib with no differences (of course, but I figured I'd check).

I got this OSError -530 today while connecting to a peripheral device, I'm using a ESP32 board with ESP32_GENERIC firmware, after comparing with ble_simple_central, it was found that the difference is, in my code I used ble.config(addr_mode=2) to setup BLE's address mode to RPA - Use resolvable private addresses., everything works fine after commenting it out. But the same code worked fine on another ESP32C3 board.
