Are you running the beta? There are sync options available in that release. |

I was not, but thanks for showing me the option.
I'll have a look at it, but my immediate thought is that this does not solve my dilemma.
I still want Spotify to sync MY playlists to music assistant. I just don't want it to merge playlists from different sources into one.
But as mentioned, I'll give it some more time to see if the beta release possibly addresses this.

This is actually a bug, a playlist may not be merged across sources |

It's hard to visualize after Spotify synced but I'll try and do so in writing.
I have a playlist in Plex called Sommerfest 2025 with some mixes I made for myself.
When I wanted to play that playlist through music assistant it at first showed up as unavailable (greyed out and couldn't open). After some time it seems music assistant had used Spotify to sync, and had found a public playlist by some other user than the one I am logged in as in the Spotify provider.
This users playlist was then merged (or possibly overwrote) my Plex playlist.
The same is happening with artists. The mixes I made for myself have an artist name and artist in Plex. But music assistant is adding/overwriting with data from Spotify it seems.

Regarding the playlist, yes, that is exactly what I'm saying.
My Plex playlist "Sommerfest 2025" apparently is also a playlist on Spotify named "Sommerfest 2025". And there's quite many of them. See screenshot.
I have not checked the documentation for tagging no. I just tagged my music to work with Plex and added the Plex provider. I was not aware of extra requirements for music assistant. I'll give that a look at my earliest convenience.

Are you saying the some random user on Spotify had an identically named playlist to yours from Plex?
In regards to the artist, have you fully tagged all your music as per our docs? If not then you are possibly getting unexpected matches. You need to look at the provider details section of the artist and see what links there are there.

Thanks for testing so quickly.
If it's any help, I noticed under Provider Details on the playlist that it had both the Plex and Spotify provider.
So far this has not happened on the beta release.

I just tried to recreate this by creating a playlist on my local file system provider and then an identically named playlist on Spotify and it worked fine

I also tried by creating an identically named playlist to one I found from another user on Spotify and also worked fine

Its possible this is some problem with the Plex provider I guess. You could test that by removing Plex and adding your music directly to MA via the fiel system provider.

I'm having a bit of difficulty getting Music Assistant to work with my needs, as I have both Plex and Spotify connected as providers.
In some cases I have a playlist on Plex that I'd just like to play, but because I have Spotify connected as well, my playlist from Plex is being merged with whatever c**p playlists also exist on Spotify with the same name (none of which I have created)...
I could really use the option to either disable the Spotify provider for that specific playlist, or an artist for that matter. Alternative disable the merging feature, so I end up with multiple playlists of the same name, possibly with a sub header showing which provider it came from.
