PDK Dev Call Updates -- October 27th, 2025

Armin

• Preparatory work for BRW.
• Continuing to build scaffolding for the simulation toolkit.
• Reading Nothingmuch's recent writing and provide questions / feedback
• Iterating on Nip feedback. This may take a backseat as BRW is coming up.
• Continued reviewing rust-payjoin PRs as they come in.
• Pairing with Zealsham on #WIP:Demonstrate failure handling with fallback TX broadcast #1164 alternative solutions

Ben

• Attended the Rust-Bitcoin Summit conference last week.
• Synced with BDK contributors to align goals for UniFFI.
• Gathered feedback from external developers regarding integration steps.
• Now has write access to rust-bitcoin-ffi, enabling merge of pending PSBT-related work from his branch.

Chavic

• Focused on patching UniFFI-Dart for the BDK integration.
• Completed functional testing for that integration.
• Next task: improve UniFFI boundary design to prevent leaking rust-bitcoin types Uniformly use primitive types in FFI boundary, with runtime validation #738.

Nothingmuch

• Continued writing and research work on:

  • Coalition formation protocol design.
    In preperation for BRW next week.

• Developing a Jupyter notebook to model denomination behavior and randomness in isolated simulations.

Spacebear

• Spent last week on Payjoin Directory maintenance and post-deployment fixes.

• Fixed an issue where the sender wasn’t specifying the correct directory in the BIP21 URI. This fix will be included in the next RC.

• Investigated metrics endpoint issues payjoin-directory should not expose /metrics publicly #1174 Fix directory metrics #1173

• Discussed two release strategies for 1.0 RCs

  1. Ad hoc releases for bug fixes.
  2. Scheduled RC releases at regular intervals.

• The team decided to target an RC release by the end of this week.

Zealsham

• Working on fixing Payjoin resume failures when sessions expire. PR is up and under review by Spacebear. Resume command should not fail for expired sessions #1175
• Improving error handling in Payjoin CLI and ensuring fallback transaction broadcasting works correctly WIP:Demonstrate failure handling with fallback TX broadcast #1164
• Armin and Spacebear paired and settled on a two potential solutions which zealsham will draft. The team will meet again mid-week once the drafts are up and decide on a final solution.

Blu

• Migrated Payjoin Dev Kit blog posts to a new /blog section on payjoin.org.
• This week: migrating Substack posts to the same location.
• Investigating build failures due to React framework changes; addressing regressions from the prior blog framework.
• Opened a PR to fix the “Edit this page” link Dan found broken.
• Adding RSS feed support for the new blog system.
• Most PRs are pending review from Dan. https://github.com/payjoin/payjoin.org/pulls
• Configured “Buttondown” email service to auto-sync from the RSS feed and send new post notifications.
• Added a “Subscribe to Payjoin” option on the updated site.
