PDK Async Dev Updates - Nov 17 2025

I'm in the process of a transition, recapping the last year of work and moving on to the next year of work.

I secured some foundation funding with a yet-undisclosed supporter.

I had a minor role moving integrations along with:

• JoinMarket with https://github.com/roshii
• BDK-CLI with @mehmetefeumit and @Mshehu5
• Bull Bitcoin with @chavic and @spacebear21
• Bitment accounting software
• Blixt

Did some website adjustments with @thebrandonlucas and Tuma

• Fixed Sparrow logo to include text
• Started a "latest posts" + subscribe to rss with email widget

Did some PR

• helped finalize Interviewing Atlas21,
• and Bitcoin Magazine

Most importantly prepping the research roadmap by understanding @nothingmuch's existing writing and @arminsabouri's presentation of simulations including:

This week I'll keep nudging integrations but focus on making the roadmap legible to funders and developers so that we can continue to thrive as a team, raise and recruit.

A quick summary of last week for me,

While working on getting bitcoin_ffi types #738 out of the api surface for payjoin_ffi, I pushed a fix that blocked the integration test from passing in this PR and helped @Spacebear get rid of tokio dependency with this PR, which was relevant to some of his current work with getting js/wasm working...

I have a draft PR for #738 here. The remaining work has to do with getting integration tests running, which should be wrapped up this week

Last week:

• Got Javascript bindings mostly working via uniffi-bindgen-react-native Add javascript language bindings #1190.

This week:

• Figure out how to write an integration test for it with the constraint that _test-utils is not WASM-compatible.
• Revisit https://github.com/spacebear21/bullbitcoin-mobile/tree/upgrade-payjoin for BBMobile to ensure payjoin tests are passing.
• Share progress on the above with Bull Bitcoin teams

Past Week:

• (Finally) finishing up the bdk-cli integration. Everything (except v1 receive) is working on the local. Need to refactor some code around and look into v1 receive before pushing the updates and taking the PR from draft to open.
• Persistence is not included in the PR, but Shehu is wrapping up that side of the story as well.

Upcoming Week:
I'll check with the folks on what low-hanging fruits are there lying around to pick up when the PR is open. I'm thinking of updating the Payjoin dev website with the new API now since I recently worked with the entire process end-to-end.

• Finished up V1 fallback TX handling alongside the test for v1 pr
• Finished up v2 fallback TX handling pending tests pr
• set up LDK Development environment (for the LDK integration)

This week:

• Test for v2 fallback handling
• session outcome based fallback handling pr draft
• close out "resume command pr" review comment pr

Past week:

• Pushed the code changes to PR Add completed_event_id FK to prevent session replay #1158 as requested by Spacebear.
• Synced up with Efe regarding the BDK CLI integrations.
• Started planning the best approach for adding persistence.

This week:

• Pushing the code for the sender persister.
• Discussed with Armin about taking over PR Fix weight estimation for P2TR inputs #880 since the collaborator is currently busy. I'm working on understanding the issue and deciding on the best approach hoping to open a PR soon.

Last week:

• migrating some exsisting code from Yuval's old sim branch. Mainly: setting up the economic relationships between peers, how that influences the payment schedule, isolating randomness so changes to some part of the simulation don't affect random procedures in other parts of the sim. And lastly migrated the graphviz integration which displays the transaction graph after the sim run.
• started scaffolding analytics to collect after a sim run for comparison. Also worked on how to compare multiple sim runs in parallel at the same timestep/epoch.
• Create the sim binary. Allows us change sim configs and run with out recompiling.
• Fixed some double spending bugs in the simulation. Along some other misc bugs that we found after we we're able to print the tx graph

This week:

• Work on multi-party cospends in the simulation. Set up the state machine and define what parameters wallets need to evaluate before deciding to cospend or not.
• Code review all my recent changes in the simulation with nm
• Refine research roadmap and external/internal pj narrative
• As a stretch goal I would like to write up the concrete changes we need to make to the dir and PJ api to get the MVP of NSMR.
• Need to revisit and respond to the last few comments left on the nostr OHTTP nip

• Imported substack subscriber list into buttondown email provider

This week:

• Design buttondown email post templates.
• Embed signup form into payjoin.org
• Close out payjoin unification checklist except for Donation section
