PDK Dev Call Updates – August 4th, 2025

Armin

• Last week: grab bag of improvements to the Liana integration. Notably cleaned up how the sender restores PSBT inputs after receiving a proposal.
• Identified and fixed some bugs in rust-payjoin related to how PSBT inputs and outputs are restored (Remove unneeded PSBT fields when extracting request #907, Restore original psbt output fields #909).
• Liana developers are expected to begin initial review of the integration this week and define how to bring it in incrementally.
• Added receiver_amount to the session context (Add amount to recv session context #920).
• Removed NS1R from master and preserved it in a separate backup branch Remove NS1R from master #923
• Investigating how Liana will handle Payjoin when electrs serves as the primary block source.
• Will submit an upstream PR to electrs to add a testmempoolaccept endpoint.
• Actively working on ticket Map finalize_proposal error appropriately in v1/v2 state machines #924.
• Current constraint: waiting on Payjoin UX mockups from Bitcoin Design.

Ben

• Continued addressing remaining integration hurdles. Focused on some Liana GUI updates however the ICE GUI framework is really hard to work his.
• Got the rest of open Liana integration PRs merged in preperation for meeting with Liana devs.
• Integrated diff-based mutation coverage into rust-payjoin. This enables detection of new mutations during PR review going forward.

Chavic

• Focused on finalizing test fixtures.
• This week: enabling more fixtures in CI, starting with those involving proc_macros (?)
• Encountered failures in proc_macro-related fixtures and others. Currently debugging.

Dan

• Refactored the sender module to move away from a hierarchical structure Abstract common sender functionality, not heirarchy #884
• Identified NS1R is too early and has been slowing progress; supported removing it from master Remove NS1R from master #923
• Excited about Claude for code generation.
• Received a check-in request from OpenSats regarding their devkit project, which references PDK.
• Preparing foundation-related updates for the upcoming announcement in Latvia.
• Following developments in the Samurai and TC cases.
• Actively recruiting contributors.
• Constraint: NS1R was blocking progress until its recent removal.

Nothingmuch

reviewable changes:

• refactor function based structure into a hyper::Service struct
  listener refactoring

in progress:

• use config crate, which unlocks the other two:
• persist contents of in memory DB and remove redis dependency
• tokio-rustls-acme TLS acceptor

i haven't started on these changes, but they seem useful and pretty straightforward:

• tower_http middleware (tracing, rate limiting seem appropriate, these are enabled by the hyper::Service trait)
  replace manual router with axum router, it's not a big dep since it builds on hyper, tower, and tokio and makes our code a bit less idiosyncratic
• bring ohttp-relay into the monorepo
• make a hybrid relay/directory service

open PRs that interact with this stuff:

• prometheus metrics, integrating with the struct PR means lazy_static is no longer needed

Spacebear

• Spent most of last week reviewing PRs with limited time for direct coding.
• Preparing talk materials for Bitcoin++.
• Prototyped Dart bindings via UniFFI on a local branch. Dan may help continue this effort while Spacebear is out.

Zele

• Responded to several issues created by Nothingmuch, including payjoin-cli resume should make max feerate sticky per session #897 and check_no_inputs_seen_before callback should not need to manage its own state #894 Planning to propose a solution approach for both issues.
• Reviewed the macOS portion of the CI test matrix Add macOS to CI test matrix #888
• This week: diving deeper into Payjoin integrations, focusing on Liana and BTCPay Server.

Zealsham

• Continued work on setting a default directory configuration in pj-cli Add default directory to payjoin-cli #874
• Working on OHTTP key expiration and rotation (ticket #? )
• Needs to rebase the current Payjoin Directory Prometheus metrics PR after nothingmuch's refactors go in. Introduce metrics Collection via prometheus for payjoin directory #848
