I'm working on a Reticulum field test/study using the LilyGO T-Beam SUPREME (~$45 USD) with Reticulum to see how effective a mesh network is in an urban and downtown area, i.e. Salem, Oregon. I just learned of this project 1/25/2026 and thought.... hmmm, someone is thinking along the same lines and has beat me to the punch... for the most part. There are still advantages Reticulum offers, but it would require a paired component and I'm now finding that a nylon fabricated case for such would exceed $50 and then a battery and you're at the $110 US mark at cost. Few people would be willing to make that kind of Stingray/cell-phone-outage protection. What's really needed is a cell phone that includes a Lora radio chip, then Bitchat & Reticulum could coexists together. |

In the event someone wants to include multiple teams connected, if the Bitchat client could use RNS Reticulum and then allow a local setup to map channels to RNS addresses for synching messages, this would allow one or multiple people in the group to sync to another group over RNS. This could build a very robust and interconnected web for small groups that want to stay in touch with each other. In my mind, the local Bitchat client would generate an RNS address, and then you would configure one or a few far-side RNS addresses to share messages with. Those could then use radios or even internet to stay connected. Github RNS Reticulum would get you started...
