Yes, it sounds cool on paper, but in reality it all comes down to the flooding principle (as far as I understand, BitChat doesn't have routing yet) in the network (each node sends a message to everyone it sees), which would put a lot of strain on the network. |

What if Bitchat allowed users to toggle "Donor Mode", in which a "VPN" connection on users' phones would route internet traffic into Bitchat to then be carried over BLE back to a donor, effectively giving people second hand internet access? I know this is somewhat counter intuitive to what Bitchat is looking to achieve and the problems it seeks to alleviate, but in some sort of disaster situation or otherwise, this might prove to be useful if not life saving. While the internet access would be VERY slow, it would be internet access. An interesting idea.
