Unable to download files using rx.link(download=True) from /assets folder

I'm building a simple page to list and download files from the /assets folder using rx.link() with the download=True option. The files are detected correctly and the links appear, but clicking the link does not trigger any download.
Here's a simplified version of the code:

        if ASSETS_DIR.exists():
            files = sorted(ASSETS_DIR.glob("*.*"))

Behavior:
The list of files loads successfully.
Clicking on a link does not download the file.
The files are correctly located under /assets/filename.ext and do exist on disk
Question:
Is there a special configuration required in Reflex to allow downloading static files from the /assets folder using rx.link(download=True)?
