Hmm, wait, do process inherit their children's memory usage? Because I quit some terminal programs and now tmux memory usage dropped way down. |

tmuxmemory usage seem suspicious, to me, but I can't tell if it is normal or not. I've searched for people reporting memory problems and found several old discussions. But, all of those problems were resolved, so I'm not sure what to think. Here are some of my symptoms:tmuxuses what seems like a lot of memory. Typically after a few days of uptime, tmux is the largest (persistent) RSS process on my system at upwards of 2 Gib. This is something to be worried about?clear-historyis associated with more memory use, not less. For example, today tmux was at 1 Gib, then I ranclear-historyon each session--not sure if that is needed--and RSS went UP to 1.4 Gib. (I just changedhistory-limitto 500, down from 20000 in the config below, but I've tried high and low values, and I don't think it has any effect on this.)tmuxRSS grows seemingly without bound. Is that normal? Here's a little about my environment. I have a bash script that starts four sessions with about 50 panes that I run after rebooting. 15 panes run sys monitoring programs, like top, nvtop, and some
watchcmds, plus BOINC tui, torrents, stuff like that. Another five have nvim running. The rest are working shells for a transient programs/cmds. I use gnome-terminal. Wayland. Fedora. nvim complains about color, even though I've tried to fix it many times, FWIW.tmux version 3.4.
