#{d:current_file} without resolving symbolic link

Can I format #{d:current_file} without having symbolic link resolved? Basically my current tmux.conf is a symbolic link that points to the nix store. #{d:current_file} will formats to /nix/store instead of ~/.config/tmux when launching tmux without any arguments. Launching tmux or source with an explicit config file such as tmux -f ~/.config/tmux/tmux.conf will formats just fine but is less portable.
