Facebook crawls linked sites for images. And does even so on the JS generated webpage. Have you tried to look at it with JavaScript disabled?

There even is a https://github.com/ouisharelabs/hacks/blob/gh-pages/favicon.ico , the Drupal site displays it even.

So how is https://github.com/Dynalon/mdwiki fiddling with the HTML headers here?
