stream server not listening for connections

Hi,

After yesterdays update the stream-server is no longer listening for connections. The debug log says everything is ok though.

ESP8266 with stream-server "master" and 2026.3.0.
Bugfix 2 days ago which prevents call to uart.request_wake_loop_on_rx

Maybe the call of "uart.request_wake_loop_on_rx" was neccessary?

We were able to resolve the issue by downgrading to esphome 2026.2.0.
Seems that esphome 2026.3 changed the handling of the uart which results in breaking the streaming-server.

• log seems ok, no client-connection possible

Despite the recently published change in __init.py__ (march 19th) the connection is still broken.
A 'Clean All files' before an 'Install' didn't solve the problem, or is the change not populated to my setup.

Reverting back to ESPhome 2026.2.4 (from within HA) solved it for now.

It turns out, that the tcp socket is not listening at all.

An indicator of the problem is that the listen call fails:

Unfortunately, code does not check return codes as it should…

Anyways, while I don’t understand why this proven in use code fails now, when looking at ESPHOME’s api component, I found that they use recently changed for achieving the same (create a listening socket)

And their code has some differences, most notably they use a different call to create the initial socket:

Changing the stream_server component to use this call fixed the problem for me.

I don’t have a pull request prepared, since I am not an ESPHOME expert, but this finding could help to get an official solution…

I am also seeing this problem.

I switched back to a previous version of ESPhome (2026.2.4, and .2) to test and did an nmap port scan for both version to see the port designated in the config (9100) is no longer listening between 2026.2.4 and 2026.3.1

(just tossing this in for additional evidence)

Same issue here. It brakes in 3.0 & 3.1 for me.
Node Red can’t get any connection anymore after upgrade. Revert to 2.4 fixes the issue.
