Continuous view and folder linking issues

Bug Description

Thank you for this function, it looks promising!

However I ran into some issues:

1. Neither linking a folder to a tab group nor selecting continuous view seems to persist after closing and reopening the vault.
2. There is some interaction between auto-closing ephemeral tabs and continuous view and/or linked folders that I can't reliably reproduce, but sometimes when I toggle IDE mode, it closes all my tabs from that "continuous view + linked folders" group except for the bottom-most one.

I didn't test it in the Sandbox Vault, as it's an issue triggered by closing and reopening the vault, but I tried in a freshly created vault, and both issues are still present.

Steps to Reproduce

1. set a folder of notes as a new tab group -> it appears linked to the folder in the Vertical tabs panel
2. close and reopen the vault, the link is gone

Neither linking a folder to a tab group nor selecting continuous view seems to persist after closing and reopening the vault.

This is the limitation of the current design. Linked folder and group view are ephemeral states, which will be reset after reloading. These features and states are defined within Vertical Tabs, thus are not managed by Obsidian when reloading the workspace.

There is some interaction between auto-closing ephemeral tabs and continuous view and/or linked folders that I can't reliably reproduce, but sometimes when I toggle IDE mode, it closes all my tabs from that "continuous view + linked folders" group except for the bottom-most one.

Thank you for reporting this issue. I’ll try to fix it soon. But may I ask why you toggled the IDE mode? The navigation strategy is generally meant to be set just once. I’d like to understand if there’s anything that needs improvement in your workflow.

Thanks for the info! So it's not possible to store these settings in Vertical Tabs so that the plugin would restore them on launch? Sadly this greatly reduces the usability of the plugin for me, as I'd need to be setting up folder linking and continuous view multiple times a day for the same folder, which is just too much friction.

But may I ask why you toggled the IDE mode? The navigation strategy is generally meant to be set just once. I’d like to understand if there’s anything that needs improvement in your workflow.

I was switching between them to try to figure out which navigation strategy works best for my needs, so this bug might indeed not occur at routine plugin use :)

Sorry for the frustration. This is a limitation of the current version. I’m redesigning the data persistence layer, and the feature will be available in a future update. Please stay tuned.
