Enhancement Description

Since there's an IDE mode, I thought there might be a command something like Vscode's "close editor group" -- when you have split panes, it closes one of the panes (an "editor group") and moves its tabs to a surviving pane. It doesn't close the closed pane's tabs.

It doesn't look like vertical tabs implements "close editor group," so I thought I'd request it.

There's another person looking for similar here.

Motivation

I use this all the time in vscode, where I often have a lot of tabs in a couple panes, which I winnow down to the point where I want to merge them. Doing it manually takes many steps, but that's not necessary in vscode and similar editors.
