You should use mt7988_mt7990.config, but iwinfo mtwifi-cfg and luci-app-mtwifi-cfg have not been fully supported yet, so they may not be fully supported at the moment! |

Hello, and thank you for maintaining this branch. I would like to share my current situation and request support for a newer Wi-Fi module.
My environment:
• Device: Banana Pi BPI-R4 (MT7988 SoC)
• Wi-Fi module: BPI-R4-NIC-BE14 (tri-band Wi-Fi 7, based on MT7995 chip)
• Branch: mt798x-mt799x-6.6-mtwifi
• Defconfig used: mt7988_mt7992.config
• Build environment: Ubuntu 24.04 — build completed successfully, firmware runs fine
Issue:
• In the mt7988-6.6-mt76 branch, the open-source driver works correctly.
• However, in the mt798x-mt799x-6.6-mtwifi branch, the firmware runs but the BE14 (MT7995) module is not detected.
• Current defconfig files only cover MT7990/MT7992, and the driver does not include MT7995 PCI IDs or firmware loading logic.
• According to available documentation, the BE14 module requires the closed-source MT7996 driver and corresponding firmware files.
Request:
• Could MT7996 driver support be added to the mt798x-mt799x-6.6-mtwifi branch, or could a patch be provided to enable MT7995 (BE14) detection?
• This would allow BPI-R4 users to compile and use the BE14 Wi-Fi 7 module with the closed-source driver, not just the open-source mt76.
Thank you for your work on this project. I am happy to provide build logs or test results if needed.
