video controls disappear after a few seconds and I can't get them back.

When I start a video, at the bottom of the screen there are the play, pause, settings, etc. buttons. Then, after a few seconds it disappears, and nothing is left except the completed and remaining times and the seek bar. Sometimes if I hit escape the buttons will come back. Sometimes it exits the video. I'm very confused as to how to access the buttons when I need them. Is there a setting to change? Is it a bug? I'm very perplexed.

Hitting ENTER on a keyboard or OK on a remote, or even left mouse click, should bring up the OSD again.

Which Kodi skin are you using?

I've tried this with both Estuary and Amber. If there is a skin that is better with Plex than the others please let me know.

I've been experimenting and this is what I'm seeing:

I start a video. The OSD is there. After a few seconds, it will disappear. That is, if I'm watching the video and then mouse down to the bottom, the OSD is gone, and if I keep my mouse at the bottom, I will see the OSD disappear.

Hitting left mouse or ENTER does not bring it back, UNLESS I first hit the pause button. I can pause the video, or pause/unpause the video, and then ENTER or left mouse will bring up the OSD.

HOWEVER, if I hit pause, and then don't hit anything else for maybe ten seconds, then ENTER/click won't bring up the OSD. Not only that, but if I hit pause, hit enter, get the OSD, wait until it disappears, and hit pause again, I cannot get the OSD back. But if I wait 10-15 seconds, THEN hit pause, now it works again!

Is there any way to just stop the OSD from every disappearing? Because since it only shows if my mouse is at screen bottom, all I have to do to hide it is put the mouse elsewhere. So the OSD wouldn't seem to have the need to fade away, and if it never did then there would be no issue getting it back.

But if I can change my Kodi skin to fix this, that would be the easiest thing for everyone. So if there's a better skin (but one that supports the mouse, because some don't) please do let me know.

OK, I can't reproduce that. I'm on the current 0.8.0 beta with the plextuary skin, though.

Please try switching to both (current beta is in the forum thread; you can also opt into auto updates for the beta channel). After switching from 0.7.9 to 0.8.0-beta, make sure to restart Kodi. The Plextuary skin can be found in the Don't Panic repository.

Alright, I installed that, and at first it didn't seem to help, but then I discovered if when the ODS is gone if I right click and then left click where the OSD should be it will come back. I don't know for a fact whether I tried right-click, left-click before, so that may have been the secret all along, or it may be that going to beta was necessary for that to work.

Maybe. I'd love to be able to reproduce this. I couldn't, at least on Windows kodi with a mouse. Maybe it's different on other platforms. Glad you got it somewhat working, though.

Oh, I never told you my platform - it's windows 10.

I'll offer one last puzzle, FWIW. I was looking for a way to minimize Kodi with just the mouse, and found a thread that suggested assigning the "" key to the middle mouse button so you can toggle the minimize bar on and off. So I created a mouse.xml file to do that and fooled with that a little. It does work.

Now, the OSD I have has the controls in the middle, so that the play button is at the bottom center of the screen. But suddenly, all the controls were bunched up on the left, except settings which were on the right, and the visual style was quite different. And they weren't disappearing, so I was excited by that. But the next time I started Kodi, it was back to the old controls. (I would send you a screenshot of Kodi so you could tell me if the controls I (usually) have are the ones you see, but I can't do it with Windows snip, because the controls fade before it will come up, or with the print screen button because for some reason when I press it I get a menu instead of it taking a screenshot.)

So that's weird, but I am finally able to do everything through the keyboard which is the main thing.

That's not really a puzzle. Once you change kodi's window resolution, which you seem to be doing by hiding that bar, PM4K invalidates it's current templates and recompiles them, as they're scaled once. This leaves you probably in a "broken skin" state, which lead to the behavior you've described.

There's not much I can do about that.

Still weird that I can't reproduce the issues, using windows 10 myself to test, windowed kodi.
