PaperWM requires 2 workspaces despite only 1 physical monitor connected #1087

Description

@samraise

Describe the bug
PaperWM displays the error message "PaperWM requires a minimum of 2 workspaces for your monitor configuration" even when only 1 physical monitor is connected and I try to set fixed workspaces to 1. PaperWM appears to be detecting a virtual or phantom monitor that the user cannot see or control.

To Reproduce

  1. Connect only 1 physical monitor (verified with xrandr --listactivemonitors showing only one monitor)
  2. Open GNOME Settings → Multitasking
  3. Attempt to set 'Number of Workspaces' to 'Fixed Number' with value of 1
  4. See error: "PaperWM requires a minimum of 2 workspaces for your monitor configuration"

Expected behavior
PaperWM should allow setting the number of fixed workspaces to 1.
