Cannot upload folders to pi pico

Please provide a clear and concise description of the bug along with logs

What are the steps to reproduce this issue?

1. Right click on a folder (not file) and hit upload file to pico, or use upload project
2. It says file upload failed

What happens?

Either I get a message 'file upload failed' or 'project upload failed'

What were you expecting to happen?

The folder gets sent to my pi pico.

Any logs, error output, etc?

(To get extension logs see Terminal > Output > Extension Host and copy output concerning pico-w-go or micropico)

For additional context:
Im using rdaggers ssd1309 display driver: https://github.com/rdagger/micropython-ssd1309
My issue is I cannot access the fonts by doing fonts/
However, my other folders upload just fine when using project upload. These folders contain only python files, and I can import them just fine

Does creating the folder in the REPL and then uploading the font files one by one work?

First, I deleted all the files from the board, then, in REPL:

>>> import os
>>> os.mkdir("lib")
>>> 

I then uploaded these files one by one by right clicking and hitting 'upload file to pico'

result:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module>
ImportError: no module named 'lib.mymodule'

I would like to add that folder uploading seems to work just fine when using upload project to pico. Here is that same project from the screenshot after using 'upload all files to board'
