Payload per default warns you if you are about to leave a page but you have unsaved changes. Meaning changes that only exist in your client, but have not yet been persisted to the server.
This does not happen however when you click the back button in your browser. If you spend 30min editing some content and accidentally hit the back button you lose all your edits. This is especially problematic since most other navigation events (clicking a sidebar link) do warn you. It's therefore reasonable to assume that the mental model of your end users is "Payload prevents this from happening", no matter how the navigation is initiatied.
