Pages of processed PDFs are blank

Hi,

When I set this up and run it, the script completes as expected, and it saves a PDF file with the same number of pages as the original, but the pages are all blank. Any ideas as to where it is going awry?

Similar problem here:
If the script is running on the example.pdf from this repository, the file which is saved cannot even be opened with okular.
However, when I tested the script on a pdf from my collection, I also got a file with blank pages.
