Wouldn't it be nice to build a flatpak?

I was researching for a while how to build a Flatpak. It would be very nice to do so because it can be updated from the command line and from software centers. It also works on every Linux distribution. If you like the idea I could start working on it. The advantages for scientific projects that don't get as much traction to be packaged by the distributions is great. Also, if it works well we could even publish it on Flathub, making it very discoverable.

Tried that, and found it much more straightforward for me to build an appimage - which is currently built. Though it appears to be having some issues with running the bundled OCC version when I test it.

I think I will try to create the scripts to build one and if it works I update you. The main point is that it can be updated automatically without needing to build the system for automatic updates. Also, making it available in a software center would be cool.
