disable Escape key?

https://github.com/philc/vimium/wiki/Disabling-Vimium#partially-disable-vimium-on-a-site documents how to disable printable keys that can be easily typed. how can i disable keys that can't be typed, like the Escape key or <a-m>?

i found passNextKey, so now i can manually type my shortcut for that and then Escape. but it would be nice to not have to use a keychord and just use Escape directly.
