Description
Initial email to Penn's Environmental Innovations Initiative (email below) - sent email to the EII Director Katie Unger Baillie and EII Program Coordinator Kate La Spina. Used my Penn alum email.
"The Environmental Innovations Initiative brings together researchers, scholars, and students to develop new ideas and innovative solutions for our global environment. It is designed to maximize Penn’s distinctive interdisciplinary strengths, building collaborations across disciplines and creating a catalyst to spur new areas of inquiry across such areas as climate change, sustainability, and environmental equity, among others."
Hello!
I'm a volunteer with the nonprofit Code for Philly, a community of volunteers who are passionate about using technology, data, and design to build tools that benefit the people of Philadelphia. We've been working on a project called PHLASK, a crowd-sourced website that helps people find free essential resources around the city, like locations for water, food, foraging, and bathrooms (you can check out the site here: https://phlask.me/).
I'm reaching out to see if there might be opportunities to collaborate with members of the Environmental Innovations Initiative. We would especially love to work with students who are passionate about sustainability, community building, and civic engagement. We welcome all skillsets, whether that's coding, design, social media, or community partnerships, and we'd love to hear from students about fresh ideas to help improve PHLASK so it can benefit even more people around Philly.
If this sounds interesting, I would love to schedule some time to chat more about the PHLASK project and discuss potential ways to collaborate!
Thank you,
Anne
