[Bug] Sibling tabs sometimes scramble/reverse order on restart of Firefox

Abstract

Steps to reproduce

1. Have a window with multiple sibling tabs under a parent tab
2. Restart Firefox

   C
   D
   E (active)

Expected result

Same structure comes back.

Actual result

Sometimes, but not every time, the siblings' order will be reversed or otherwise scrambled.

Unfortunately, restarting again may or may not fix the problem, or even make it worse.

Environment

• Platform (OS): Win11
• Version of Firefox: 137.0 (64-bit)
• Version (or revision) of Tree Style Tab: 4.1.4 (plus TST More Tree Commands 1.5.1)

@Atario can you try a clean profile (as a test) with just TST installed to see if you can reproduce this? At the end of the day, if this was a TST issue, there would be many more reports of tabs being reversed. If we can produce in a clean profile with minimal changes, it will be much easier to review. I would think Win11/FF137/TST4.1.4 is probably a pretty common environment.

I'm sure ideal conditions would make it all but impossible to reproduce the issue, but we don't live in ideal conditions. Even as it is, this doesn't happen every time. If there are some debugging/logging procedures to try rooting out the situation as things stand, I'd be happy to make the attempt(s). (As long as my extensive session doesn't get completely destroyed in the process.)

I just had it happening to me for the second time. It happened both times when firefox was not closed properly. Would be really great to just have an option to reverse order of the tree in the Tree of tabs context menu.

@drulia FoxyTab allows for good sorting, so you may benefit from using that add on occasionally, at least throwing it on and off if you experience this too much. I too have had it happy many times in the past, however I never knew if the problem was isolated so perhaps it's not worth piroor solving. Sometimes I've found it helps to have separate windows in case this issue does occur too, due to those windows more than often are semi-categorised due to the browsing processes of an individual and you can easily assort with FoxyTab but not entirely optimally.

@Atario Investigating of a problem on your ordinal environment with modified options and other addons is very hard even if you collect debug logs, because some modified options change Firefox's behavior silently and the log will filled with too much garbage which makes researching harder. Binary search will help you to minimize the conditions, about the list of addons and options saved in prefs.js. Collecting of debug logs should be done after that. Simplified "steps to reproduce the problem with a clean profile" really helps our debugging. (Otherwise, uploading your full user profile (yes, it contains very sensitive information) and sharing it to me will be the best way for debugging...)
