Gromacs 2026

Dear developers,

Gromacs 2026.0 has been released a few days ago. Do you have a rough idea if (and when) you will propose a patch for it? The reason I am asking is because I want to perform HREX/REST2 simulations for a new project, and I am interested in their modern force fields (Amber19SB). I can either wait a few weeks and use Gromacs2026 and Amber19SB, or start right now with Gromacs 2025 and older force fields. Depending on your answer, I will choose on or the other, but I wanted to have the information from your side before chosing.

Hello. No there's no plan currently. Please not that also gromacs 2025 is not working with the -hrex option. I think the latest compatible version is 2022 (but you should cross check).

In the middlie time frame I plan to reimplement again this feature in modern gromacs versions. But this should probably be possible in several months from now, I hope before end of 2026

Thanks for the fast answer. I didn't know that Gromacs 2025 was officially not working. I had observed it in some servers, but I thought it was an issue of compilation. I have had successes with Gromacs 2023 though.
