wx3270 not working in windows11 home edition

Hi everyone, I´ve tried wx3270 v1.2 and v.1.1 in a windows 11 home edition and I cannot make it work.

The process is running but it doesn´t open any window.

Any idea please? Thanks!

I do not have access to Windows 11 Home, but I don't see what effect that would have on wx3270.

I have another report of a similar issue, based on the installation of KB5058499. Would you happen to have that update installed?

In the meantime, could you try the running wx3270 from the command line, with the following options:

wx3270.exe -console -trace

Hopefully something interesting will appear in the console window that is opened.

I don´t find the installation of KC5058499 but the problem seems to be the same.

If I run from the console with -console -trace it opens a small window with a picture of a computer and "wx3270 1.2 copyright...". If I click on the window it disappears but the process continues running.

I´ve tried with administrator permissions but it does the same.

Thank you, that answers a couple of questions. The splash screen is a separate program that is launched by wx3270 when it starts. It's not clickable, by the way -- it disappears when wx3270 tells it to, or when wx3270 exits. So this is not a digital signature or start-up DLL issue. That is, Windows is happy to start the wx3270 process, but it is not getting very far before it falls over.

I will look into the wx3270 code and see what it is doing between the time it starts the splash screen and the time it opens the console window (if -console is specified), to try to figure out what is failing.

Then if wx3270 crashes, a crash dump should be captured in your AppData\Local\CrashDumps folder. If you could send that to me, I should be able to figure out what went wrong.
