Teams : Error while getting messages list / Getting latest messages only ?

Hi

I use "m365 teams chat message list" to retreive messages from a specific chatId conversation but it often fails with {"error":"Failed to execute backend request."}

The only time I has it working I got hundreds of messages

Is there's a way to restrict this query to a specific time frame ?

PS: I did the same kind of query using M$ graph and it's faster and allways works... Strange

I think it's because "m365 teams chat message list" returns all messages from the conversation (the chat I use for test is very very old & long) while m365 request --url "https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/chats/xxxxx/messages" seems to return only 20 messages by default ?

In my test, the "m365 teams chat message list" returns more than 10.000 entries....

Aw yeah, that's true. I thought you were also retrieving all messages using m365 request. For endpoints like this, it makes sense to me to include a start and end time option as we do for outlook message list. That would be a nice enhancement.

in CLI for Microsoft 365 you may filter any response using the --query option which applies to every command. Thanks to that you may create a JMESPath filter to trim down the command output to only what is needed

as for the MS Graph use case. Indeed this seems strange as under the hood this command also uses MS Graph API /v1.0/chats/${chatId}/messages endpoint to achieve that
