Cosmic Text Editor (CTE) flickers when working with files

Cosmic text editor 0,1,0 on Fedora 43:

When editing a file longer than fits on the screen, perhaps about 40 lines , longer than fits in the current view / window size

Scrolling through the file with keyboard or mouse wheel or touchpad:

Flickering lines of text flash , lines of test are not displayed properly

How to reproduce:

Open a file

Enter enough lines of text such that the entire file can not be viewed (less lines in a small tiled window than when viewing full screen)

Scroll through the file with keyboard up/down arrows or mouse wheel o touchpad gestures

text starts flickering and not rendering properly typically at the bottom of the window

Expected results
Scrolling though a file works

Actual results
Scrolling causes flickering and improper desplay
