How to exclude an applet from core system services?

I noticed several applets autostart upon login session: cosmic-applet-tiling, cosmic-workspaces, etc.
Which service file/daemon is responsible for spawning those components?
I know I can disable cosmic-applet-tiling from settings, but cosmic-workspaces has no counterpart. As a workaround I renamed it into /usr/bin/cosmic-workspaces.bak. However, a service-level approach is in order to manipulate performance and preserve functionality.

I believe that cosmic-session is the one orchestrating everything.
