Different tiling mechanisms?

i'm super excited for the cosmic release! i'm so glad it's in alpha.

i love the tiling system, however, i've recently fallen in love with the paperwm tiling system over on gnome. i'm NOT wondering if this specifically can be implemented. i'm moreso wondering if the window management system in general can be changed, to allow different tiling schemes such as paperwm and others, like gnome's upcoming mosaic tiling.

basically, is the tiling integrated deeply into the system? or is it overlayed like gnome, where others can be used?

This repository is for a gnome-shell extension. You may want to go to cosmic-comp instead.
Tiling is integrated into the compositor, so it is not currently possible to change it through external means.
