Related Application and/or Package Version (run apt policy $PACKAGE NAME):
Not sure how to identify it, it's the networking indicator in the top-right of the screen. I'm not too familiar with Gnome's naming scheme; sorry.

Issue/Bug Description:
The network indicator (when you're connected to Ethernet) changes to a disconnected version when you unplug your cable, for example. This indicator fails to update when you plug your cable again; during all this time, I was also connected to Wi-Fi.

Steps to reproduce (if you know):
I'm not 100% sure if these are the exact same steps but I manage to reproduce it during a normal day.

  1. Be connected to a Wi-Fi network and also have an Ethernet cable plugged-in.
  2. Unplug the Ethernet.
  3. Observe the network indicator changes to the cable-disconnected version.
  4. Plug the cable again.
  5. Observe the network indicator fails to update.
  6. No amount of fidget with WiFi or Ethernet brings this indicator back to life; it takes a reboot.

Expected behavior:
That the network indicator correctly displays the status of my network. :)

Other Notes:
I promise I will try to find much more accurate repro steps.
It's worth noting that in the above scenario (Ethernet + Wi-Fi connected), if you unplug your Ethernet cable, Wi-Fi doesn't always pick up right away and most apps start to complain you're now offline (Slack, Chromium, FFox, even terminal with a ping). You have to literally reboot to have networking again. I am not sure if this is related but I don't have Ethernet at this moment to test it better. If needed, I'll file a new bug, but whoever looks at this, keep that in mind :)
