I have an anecdote to share. I come to py-shiny from an R background so the core syntax makes a lot of sense to me, but I assumed "newbies" would find the express syntax somehow easier.
However, at the company I work at, we assigned a task to a relatively junior programmer to put together a dashboard using py-shiny. This developer had no prior experience with shiny but had plenty of exposure to python. She struggled for a while to get going with the express syntax. I then showed her the core syntax and she managed just fine from there. She has told me that the core syntax is much easier to understand, and I tend to agree. It just feels logical and it is straight forward to build a mental model of how things click together. I'd be interested to hear from people who prefer the express syntax. What do you like about it?
