Ranked Play: Cardbacks

With the introduction of the card based picking system in ranked play, I think it would be fun to introduce a cardback cosmetic system like in other card games.

Some ideas how to get card backs:

• Ranked play contests/tournaments
• Seasonal rewards if that will be a thing (e.g. Top 10%, Top 1%, or Top 100)
• Medals
• Supporter
• Purchasable only designs (please let us support the game through more than just supporter!!)
• Designs that come in with merch orders as codes you can redeem on the website (or just given to the account on purchase if you can track that through tangible)

I think it would be great way to show off for example that you have some rare medals or that you were in top x% of last season. Additionally, some cardbacks could be made by the community in art contests just like the seasonal backgrounds

This would probably also require moving the opponent cards down a little bit and scaling them bigger so they are more visible in the card picking screen but I think that would be fine there's a lot of empty space anyway

osu!team seems to hate the concept of getting money because they want to keep the game free of microtransactions (which is based), so even having a in game currency you only get for playing in ranked play that you can get cardbacks and other cosmetics with would be cool. It would be like overwatch competetive points, which is like the 1 good thing about overwatch imo.

That said, even having one paid category of cosmetics would be fine IMO. Doubt it would be done, but it would be cool to support the game in a slightly different way than getting supporter tags and directly contrubuting

I don't think a card back is valuable enough for people to bother with them. You can't even see your own while playing. Also, ranked play might naturally lose a significant amount of interest with time.
