Hyprland config errors after system upgrade (gestures + animations options not recognized)

Hi,
After a recent full system upgrade on Arch Linux, I started getting multiple Hyprland config errors showing on the top bar when launching Hyprland.

I am using the latest hyprdots setup from this repository.

What I Tried:
1 Updated system using pacman -Syu
2 Pulled latest hyprdots repo
3 Reloaded Hyprland
.... but issue still appears

System info:
Hyprland 0.53.3 built from branch v0.53.3 at commit dd220efe7b1e292415bd0ea7161f63df9c95bfd3 clean (version: bump to 0.53.3).
Date: Sat Jan 24 20:02:06 2026
Tag: v0.53.3, commits: 6793

Libraries:

These errors occurred because the syntax for hyprland has been updated. The config files that came with this repo are still using its old syntax.

Btw, this repo is deprecated. This issue was asked and resolved in the new maintained project here...

That issue only covers windowrules while your error show multiple files like animations.conf. You will have to go to the line in your files the errors are pointing to, find the new commands in the hyprland wiki...

...and update the syntax.

Also, I just commented out the lines that give the <gestures: error...>. I think their functionality was removed.
