Presto to teradata connector issue

I’m having a challenge connecting to teradata.
I added the teradata jdbc driver to a new dir under /home/plugin and also added a teradata.properties file in catalog but i still get this error “no factory for teradata connector”
Any ideas ?

It sounds like you are trying to make a new connector for Teradata? Teradata is not currently supported directly, but there is a general JDBC connector, have you followed the steps for that?

Hello @psbell-meta, I have been searching diligently but unfortunately haven't found much on the topic, apart from adding the driver to the plugin dir and creating a teradata.properties file which doesn't work.
I found this repo but it's very vague and didn't help me much.

@YousraAshour are you trying to have Teradata query data from Presto, or do you want Presto to use Teradata as a source?

@YousraAshour for utilizing a non supported data source you have to build your own connector

You can look at this one https://prestodb.io/docs/current/develop/example-http.html as a starting point, but to connect to non-supported sources requires implementing:

ConnectorFactory
Connector
ConnectorMetadata
ConnectorSplitManager
ConnectorHandleResolver
either ConnectorRecordSetProvider or ConnectorPageSourceProvider

additional classes may be required depending on what you want to do with Teradata.

Essentially you'll need to implement the pieces to talk to the Teradata API.

I am working on a detailed walk through on how to build custom connectors but won't have that ready for a few weeks. But implementing this shouldn't be too complex on your own if you've worked with APis and Java before.
