Can you show us the HDMI log for when you plug in the Boss? If it is MIDI class compliant, then it ought to be ok, but there are some specific variations of the USB support that don't always work. Kevin |

Hmm. I suspect the function is not supported. Not quite sure why I think that, but I have a feeling... In all seriousness, it would be really useful to see the output of lsusb for the device to get its USB descriptors and then we might be able to see quite why it isn't supported. If it is "class compliant" then it might be an element of the audio streaming/MIDI we don't support and might be able to see if that is something to add. If it isn't class compliant, then there probably isn't much we can do without building in bespoke driver code into the circle environment... Kevin |

Thanks Kevin, how to I read the output of lsusb? This goes over my head a bit although I have built a usb host with a raspberry pi before, do I need to be running an os to read the lsusb? Either way it might be just as easy to use the trs midi on the GT-1000 if it's going to be a problem. |

Oh yes, sorry - yes, you'll need to boot up from a Linux distro (Raspberry Pi OS is easiest) and run lsusb. I did a bit of searching but couldn't find anything suggesting it needed anything special. But I'll see if there is any issues running it under Linux - that might give some clues. Kevin |

Ok, looking through the Windows driver files, it seems to include interfaces for audio, mixing and MIDI so it seems to be quite a complicated USB device. But I'm wondering if it might be possible to tell MiniDexed to ignore some of the other end points and just focus on MIDI. But also, I notice that the setup files seem to imply a USB vendor ID of 0582 (which is Roland) and device ID 0217 (updated - just noticed that is in your photo - of course it is :)). But looking on http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids device 0217 isn't listed under Roland, so I'm wondering if Linux doesn't support it directly... But yes, I think we'd need to see the USB descriptors (which I suspect are going to be quite complicated) to try to pick out what classes of USB devices it is providing as end-points before we can make much progress... So it turns out this unit has some great midi implementation. In each patch I can send out MSB, LSB and Program change info to Minidexed as well as use a footswitch for a sustain pedal as well as a number of other CC based tricks. To top it off the GT-1000 has a couple of fx loops so I can use minidexed alongside my guitar and use all the fx etc.
Only one issue I've found is that I can't do this midi stuff over the usb cable, I have to run midi out from the GT-1000. Can anyone think of a reason why minidexed wouldn't act as a host for the pedal and accept midi over it? Maybe I've done something wrong...
