I am not a lawyer but I think technically they would also need to mention the GPLv3 and provide the source code matching to the version they are shipping, similar to this:

This product contains software licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3. A copy of the license is available at XXX. You may obtain the complete corresponding source code for this software from YYY, valid for at least three years after the last shipment of this product.

Oh, and I added a LICENSE document to the root of this repository. Sine we are using GPLv3 software, the choice of license was easy in this case ;-)

I'm not familiar with the legal issues, but I have a feeling someone is making it very easy for themselves.

Pros:

• The DT-DX is a great product. The workmanship is high quality, the metal casing seems sturdy.
• The size and weight of the casing are good, and the device fits anywhere.
• The connections are sufficient and easily accessible.

Cons:

• The lack of access to the SD card is a negative, but this is no longer so problematic with FTP access.
• The encoder button is too large; a smaller button would make browsing through the menu much faster.
• Only a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W is installed.

I think the biggest issue is that they are basically saying that the most likely kind of support required for their (pretty expensive) product will be passed off to a volunteer community that they are not contributing anything back to? Or am I misunderstanding things?

I noticed they "own" a Facebook MiniDexed group that seems to have had no discussion here about if that is a good or useful thing or not. If they named it DT-DX group then that would make sense, but they seem quite happy to keep it looking like an official group that no-one actually involved in the project seems to have any control or influence over...

And people are asking questions there that would be answered a lot more easily (and authoritatively), and more usefully to others, if they'd asked them here.
