"dcmi_power_consumption" vs "ipmi_power_watts"

Hello,

I have been working on some power measurements with "Dell EMC PowerEdge R750". I stumbled upon the two metrics "ipmi_dcmi_power_consumption_watts" and "ipmi_power_watts".

The reported metrics has a difference of around 10Ws and I want to understand what is causing the difference. It will be very help if anyone can answer with the details of what is measured in those two metrics. I attached a screenshot for reference.

The value of ipmi_dcmi_power_consumption_watts is taken from a "Get Power Reading" command as specified in section 6.6.1 of the DCMI specification. This value is usually an average over a certain time window, the size of which depends on the manufacturer, but is measured in milliseconds.

The other value is from some sensor, so you'd at least have to share some sensor details, but in the end it's all hardware-specific anyways. Its output certainly looks sketchy to me, though (too even). Your hardware vendor might be able to tell you what exactly this sensor is measuring.
