question: how does bilig handle cross-call recompute isolation?

Hi — first time posting. The "headless WorkPaper runtime" framing is exactly the shape I've been looking for in a small agent-side tooling project. Two questions before I dig in:

1. For the "recalculate when inputs change" path: is the recompute isolated per-input, or does the whole WorkPaper recompute on any input change? Trying to figure out if I can treat bilig as a "spreadsheet-like" runtime for agent-driven dashboards.
2. For the headless execution: does bilig support a streaming-output mode (line-by-line / cell-by-cell), or is it batch-only? Some of my agent use-cases need partial results to start rendering before the full paper is done.

A doc pointer is enough if these are answered in the README somewhere I missed.

Thanks for asking. I checked current main at fbc67cca4e6ff8b2538f76f0acfbae55875809b7, which is the latest commit on both Forgejo origin/main and GitHub main right now.

Short version:

1. A WorkPaper edit is spreadsheet-like, not per-input isolated as an independent mini calculation. When you set an input, Bilig mutates the workbook model and recalculates affected dependent formulas, then returns changed/readback state. Ordinary edits use dependency-aware/tracked paths where possible; structural edits or cases outside a fast path can fall back to broader rebuild/recalc. So the stable contract is coherent post-edit workbook state, not a guarantee that only one input cell is touched internally.

   For dashboard use, yes: you can treat it as a headless spreadsheet runtime for agent-driven dashboards. If several inputs belong to one dashboard update, group them with the multi-edit/batch helpers so you get one consistent readback/proof.

2. Public headless WorkPaper output is structured/batch today. The Node helpers and MCP tools return after write + recalc + readback/persist/restore. There is MCP/agent transport streaming elsewhere in the stack, but WorkPaper formula evaluation does not currently expose line-by-line or cell-by-cell progressive result streaming.

   For partial rendering today, split the dashboard into explicit steps/ranges and call read_range/readback after each committed edit batch.
