  • The company I work for is now a Switchvox dealer, (digium's commercial * offering) and I must say, aside from serious restrictions on my coding freedom (Can't really do shit linux command line level, no access!) I must say there are a few features that DO impress me :) I would like to see if we could duplicate some of this functionality in the open source world! One of the really cool features of Switchvox is "DHCP sniping". This basically allows you to configure Snom/Polycom phones, WITHOUT the need for dhcp option 66. Not sure exactly how it works, been googling it without much success...all sorts of mentions of switchvox though.... But no longer being dependent on option 66 would be AWESOME! I'm already doing so here on my home pbx with a little python script for my Snom phone.... One other area, which SHOULD be optional of course (It's NOT optional in Switchvox :( ) Is the ability to auto configure some BLF's for extensions from your phonebook (or in the case of FPBX, maybe pull this from the extensions db?) Basically, it takes the first x amount of entries in your phone book (on the switchvox switchboard) and automatically makes them BLF's on my Polycom 450 @ the office.... I could probably throw a few others in here, but I guess what I'm getting @ is that my employer is now going to be running Switchvox, so, I say we take the opportunity to pull it apart, wireshark it, etc.... see EXACTLY what they're doing and how, and bring the same functionality to the open source realm :) -Andy
