Automatic Support Painting in Command Line

Is it possible to add automatic support painting as a command line option? Or does it rely on some parts of GUI like generating a thumbnail does and it cannot run in command line only?

Yes, that's reasonable FR. AFAIK the fundamental problem is, that we use frontend painting of support spots. So it is not reachable in the short term, but we will try to keep it on our list.
