Is it possible to compile/simulate with verilator?

Unfortunately, non-standard build tool makes it difficult to do anything with this project.

Unfortunately, we don't provide a verilator environment at the moment, since some of our verification IPs use SystemVerilog constructs that are not yet compatible with Verilator. The main IPs should be compatible with verilator however, so potentially you could still use them in another project/system.

What are SystemVerilog constructs that are used and not yet compatible with Verilator?

There are a lot of them, but mainly in the dependencies of FlooNoC. You can try the following to get the list of errors from verilator:

verilator `bender script verilator -t simulation -t test -t floo_test -t snitch_cluster -t idma_test` --top-module tb_floo_nw_chimney --binary

bender build tool is a big problem - it tries to compile everything in all referenced repos, including unrelated testbenches.
