Sandbox disabled on default pulsar.desktop

What happened?

Problem with path on /usr/share/applications/pulsar.desktop
After install it linked to /opt/Pulsar/pulsar with disabled sandbox
Replace it to /usr/bin/pulsar and sandbox works again

Was having --no-sandbox set causing you issues?

This is intentional and is not a bug, unless it was causing you issues.

This change was made to resolve numerous numerous issues we were receiving.

The installation path should be /opt/Pulsar, there should be a symbolic link /usr/bin/pulsar targeting /opt/Pulsar/resources/pulsar.sh and the desktop entry should be pointing towards /usr/bin/pulsar

I believe we need to fix the postinstall as it's doing a copy operation, and I believe we need to edit the electron-builder configuration to either use the resources/linux/pulsar.desktop.in as discussed in #414 or statically set the target within the electron-builder config

I think the sandbox piece is a red herring

@Spiker985 You mentioned the --no-sandbox content of this issue might be a red herring. Do you still believe a different issue is here? Or is this simply a misunderstanding of us intentionally setting --no-sandbox. Since if the later we can go ahead and close this one

I believe the issue that was at play here was that the pulsar.sh file was not being called, but the actually pulsar bin

So Pulsar wasn't technically being launched properly

Actually now. But if i call pulsar from terminal - all works fine

Not so good, like atom 2 years ago. But i can work.
If i run from startup => dev tools not available (cannot read some errors from linters)
But i can run it from terminal and (with magic i think?) i can open it with ctrl + shift + i

Non-conformtable, but works if i expect errors

@mrquokka The lack of dev tools is one of the reasons we had to enable --no-sandbox. When you run from terminal and according to the above have --no-sandbox set, then you are able to view devTools. But it's interesting that when opening from startup, it doesn't work

Yeap, anyway my os now is Ubuntu 23.04 with cinnamon, but i think it with all systems

We might already consider this ticket to be fixed; curious what people think.

And if not, this might warrant revisiting after we land #1466 and #1467. In theory, those changes should eliminate the need to add --no-sandbox all over the place, in which case I think this ticket will have been addressed in its entirety.
