This is one of those programs that insists you can't run as root, when installed from the repos.
I made a petbuild for it, has the required "disable root" stuff in the config options.

This petbuild worked for me on a 32-bit Slacko at the time (but the version in the linked petbuild script is not at the latest, needs updating)
